So the other week EcoPowerSupplies exhibited at Data Centre World where the company showed off its datacentre UPS offerings from leading UPS manufacturers and launched new branded services brochures covering each division within the Thamesgate Group. During its 10-year history and work in the London datacentre market place, Thamesgate has never exhibited at a datacentre show and has grown purely from recommendations and client networking.
Our stand was just by the Critical Infrastructure and Energy Management seminar halls and so we had an excellent footfall of traffic, with plenty of visitors to our stand. On the stand we wanted to our promote services. That’s essentially what the Thamesgate Group (of which we are part) provides, with electrical contracting works underpinning much of what our teams do: interiors work, bespoke furniture design and specialist installations (energy storage, power protection and UPS maintenance).
We also had datacentre UPS products on the stand. From Riello UPS, for whom we are Certified UPS Service Engineers we had a 40kVA Multi Sentry UPS system. This transformerless UPS system is one of the most popular UPS within the datacentre industry and comes with a 3 year on-site warranty. Multi Sentry UPS has a very compact footprint, offers super high efficiency on-line model (>95%) and up to 30kVA can have an internal battery set. The Multi Sentry is also very easy to install and service; ideal for electrical contractors like Thamesgate.
We also displayed products from Huawei (for whom are a Certified Service Partner) including their small UPS2000A UPS systems (1-3kVA) and a Huawei UPS2000G 40kVA UPS. The 40kVA UPS 2000G is another compact UPS designed for floor standing or rack mount server cabinet installation. It is ultra-compact made of a three-phase input/output 40kW module but has no room for internal batteries. Any installation requires an additional pair of battery packs making it less compact than the Riello Multi Sentry UPS.
Other products we noted with interest at the show were the power distribution units from Server Technology Ltd. We recently became a Silver Partner for ServerTech and are impressed by their PDU experience (covers 25 years in this market place) and the range of products and experience. PIPs, POPS and HDOT may sound very American but they are PDU product features that make ServerTech PDUs one of the most advanced and information power management tools available at the rack level.
Whilst DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) may yet still be a solution looking for a problem to solve, intelligent PDUs like those from ServerTech give it some direction. Whether you are an Enterprise datacentre or Colo selling rack provision to clients, being able to accurately monitor and bill energy usage is a must. As is being able to remotely power control socket level activity. All features within the ServerTech PDU range.
We were so pleased with our first visit to Data Centre World that we have booked for 2016 as well as a number of other datacentre shows in the coming year ahead.
